BREAKING NEWS: Three hikers found dead after going missing in Glen Coe

POLICE Scotland say they have recovered three bodies following the search for a hiking party that failed to return from Aonach Eagach Ridge in Glen Coe on Saturday.

HM Coastguard were joined by mountain rescue teams from Glen Coe and the RAF when the alarm was raised shortly after 9pm.

“We were made aware of concern for a group of three hillwalkers who had not returned from the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe shortly after 9.05pm on Saturday, August 5,” a police spokesperson said this afternoon.

“A search was carried out and the bodies of three people were found. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

The ridge – known as the narrowest in Britain – runs almost the full six-mile length of Glen Coe and involves challenging terrain that requires scrambling in many parts. It takes around nine hours to complete.
